Mingma Sherpa
Mingma Sherpa, also known as “Camera Mingma” is a high-altitude videographer, photographer, and mountaineer based in Kathmandu, Nepal. His work has taken him from the Himalayas to the cliffs of the Andes, filming in thin air, extreme weather, and some of the most remote terrain on Earth. He works alongside high-altitude mountaineers, climbers, and extreme athletes, documenting the beauty and danger of the mountains and the resilience of the people who take them on.

Since 2014, Mingma has worked with Adobe’s suite of video editing softwares, which has been an integral part of his development as a videographer and storyteller. What began as an exploration of Adobe’s powerful editing tools grew into deep mastery of its platforms. He uses them to craft visually compelling stories, whether shot at extreme altitude or for high-profile productions.
Mingma is also a mountaineer. Since 2021 he has climbed several of the world’s 8,000-meter peaks, including Mount Everest, K2, Annapurna, and Manaslu. His time on these mountains informs his filmmaking, because he knows from experience what climbers face and how to film them safely and truthfully.
In 2023, Mingma founded Yaks Films Production in Kathmandu. The company was born from loss: after an avalanche on Shishapangma took the lives of two of his closest friends, he channeled his grief into creating something lasting in their memory. Its flagship service is high-altitude videography and photography, supported by 4K cameras, high-altitude drones, and weather-resistant equipment built for extreme conditions. The team is known for filming where few crews can, from climbers battling storms to quiet moments on snow-covered peaks.
At High Karma, Mingma brings this experience to the mountains, helping travelers see and capture their journey with a filmmaker’s eye.
